Our Story
We are an independent family wine business created by David Robertson who has over 30 years in the trade and Jamie Robertson - his son, with years of administrative and design experience. Our passion is excellent quality wine that will not cost you an arm and a leg, and to provide the very best service to our customers, not in any way compromising on the quality of our wine selection.
2019
Our journey began as an idea back in April of 2019. Coming into fruition during the second half of the year with the successful registration and acquisition of trade licences, followed shortly after by our first wholesale account in Yorkshire. Our logo was then designed by our good friends over at AVJ whom David has known and worked with for over a decade in things like wine list design and printing.
Plans to create a website and online shop soon formed in order to bridge that gap between the on-trade and retail. Being the first online wine shop to offer many exclusive wines that are only available by wholesale to businesses, the vast majority of our wines you will never see on the shelves of supermarkets. We hosted a special wine tasting at Ramside Hall in Durham in order to slim down our expansive prelimiary wine selection, this event was very successful and was met with great support.
Wholesale expansion continued with the opening of more accounts namely in the North East and Yorkshire, building our portolio substantially. A partnership formed between ourselves and The Beer Trading Company based over in Middlewich, which has great potential for growth in wine sales. Work continued on our website and an account was opened with UPS to handle the logisitcs of our shipments to customers. After many months of work we launched our online shop. December comes around and is by far our busiest month.
2020
As we all know, 2020 was a disastrous year for most of us. Ourselves included. We were hit hard by the global pandemic only trading for 5 out of the 12 months in the year at a substantially decreased rate as well. This however did allow us to put more of an emphasis on our website and selling to the general public.
We expanded and improved the functionality of this website which we have now benefitted from, specifically in 2021
2021
This year has started slowly, but has been picking up. We have seen our website sales notably increase including the frequency of our orders which has been very encouraging to see. Creating a returning customer base we can be proud of. Let's hope this year is much better for us all, and we can get back to some sort of normality!
2022 & 2023
These years marked our recovery from the pandemic of 2020 and rapid growth in all aspects of our small company. With a 'finding of out feet' and forming a deviating portion of our business from traditional wholesaling. Starting consultancy and intermediation in the on-trade, providing expertise and support to businesses to grow their wine trade operations. However, it was not just this which saw growth, but the online retail side right here. Which we owe to all of our amazing customers.
2024 - So Far
This is a huge year for us and for our future. Big steps are being taken to reorganise our business and streamline every process we take on a daily basis. To become more efficient, and to provide a progressively prestigious product and service going forward. This sounds generic, and I grant you. It is.
